At the gas station the other day, I observed how other motorists paused to ensure they were putting the right fuel in their car: Some Picked the Diesel pump and others the Petrol pump. For my car its premium, no lead petrol Yes Siree!
Now, this got me thinking how odd it is that we take care to ensure that the right products are used for our car to optimize its performance yet we seldom pay similar attention to the grade and quality of fuel we throw in our mouths. And then we wonder why our bodies are not performing optimally? Seriously?
What would you expect to happen when you fill a Petrol car with Diesel and vice versa? Most certainly a breakdown!
That’s exactly what happens to you when you do not give your body the right fuel – it breaks down thus rendering you a guest at your local hospital where trained (hopefully) hands do some disaster recovery. They patch you up and send you on your merry way hoping the penny drops for you and you reform your lifestyle. But no, no, no, you continue in this damaging habit until you wreak major havoc on yourself and need some new body parts.
Now, herein lies the challenge: replacement body parts are not that easy to come by, quite unlike your car parts.
So the next time you are about to refuel, do yourself a favour: Stop and think, think, think before you shove the wrong fuel in your mouth!
That's thought-provoking; it's pretty easy to forget that food is essentially 'body fuel' and not primarily for feeling good, entertainment, socializing or the like.

This is nice! I like the vehicle analogy. I once read a book titled "foods that harm, foods that heal" and it got me thinking about what I eat.
ReplyDelete@Olutosin, that title is so apt because what you eat could either harm or heal. We had a blast last night BTW.
ReplyDeletelove lots
- talking about "foods that heal", a lot of the medicine we pop daily, occur naturally in food (especially fruits & vegetables) without the attendant "side-effects" that the pharmaceutical industry expertly down-play while wielding the worn-out excuse that nature does not produce these nutrients in sufficient quantity.
