30-Days Juice Fast: Day 1- Recipes

30-Days Juice Fast: Day 1- Recipes

I am so excited that you are joining me to juice for one month! Thank you! It's more fun doing things like this with a party than alone.

I have been the biggest fan of Jason Vale -No, I do not get paid for saying that (I should though…hmmm). Anyway, it might be worthwhile if you picked up his book- ‘The Juice Master- over 100 delicious juices and smoothies’.
I have bought these for friends and family because it is a real treasure.

The general idea with getting delicious green juices is balancing the sweet, with the sour, bitter and tangy tastes. Say, for example, you are juicing 4 handfuls of a green veggie (spinach, pumpkin leaves, water leaves, green leaves, Kale etc.), 3 sticks of celery, 5 stems of broccoli, a thumb of ginger for added spice, 5 inches of cucumber and an inch of courgette. To this, I would probably add 3 slices of pineapple or 5 apples or/and 7 medium sized carrots - just for some sweetness. I also tend to add about 2 inches of peeled lemon to all my juices because I personally like the sour taste and also for it's added benefits.

You get the gist?
Now, let’s get this party started!

What you would need:
1.   Time – obviously
2.   A Juicer or/ a smoothie maker (a good blender if no smoothie maker)
3.   A chopping board (optional)
4.   Knives (optional)
5.   Water
6.   Apple cider vinegar (to wash fruits and vegetables. See: ‘30-Day Juice Fast: Day 1- Mind Prep!’ post sent on 28th of Feb. 2013 for veggie washer recipe.)
Fruits and Veggies needed for the day: 1 banana, 11 apples, 3 ½ cups of pineapple, 1 celery stick, 5 inches of lemon, 9 inches of cucumber, 1 avocado, 3 handful of mixed green leaves, 6 carrots, a pinch of cinnamon powder, wheat grass, Broccoli bunch, 1 beetroot, 1 courgette, 1 cup of papaya, 2 inches of ginger and a handful of the following- Alfalfa Sprouts, watercress, parsley, kale.

Juice Master’s Boost Juice (culled from his book –‘7 pounds in 7 days’
 – 2 apples, ½ pineapple, ¼ mug alfalfa sprouts, ¼ mug watercress, ¼ mug parsley, ¼ mug kale, ¼ mug broccoli and 1 oz. shot of fresh wheat grass (optional).
You can replace the greens with what you have locally.
Juice the lot.

9pm
Relax with a mug of fresh lemon tea (warm water and lemon slices) or
My favorite, JM’s hot-n-spicy (culled from JM ‘Lose 7 pound in 7 days’ book)-
JM’s hot-n-spicy:  3 apples, a pinch of cinnamon and a saucepan.
Juice apples, pour in saucepan and warm on low heat. DO NOT BOIL. When nice and warm, pour into mug, add cinnamon, then go sit in that cozy corner of your room with a good book, your favourite TV show or music and enjoy the most aromatic drink EVER!!!!
There you have it. They all taste a treat I promise but do not take my word for it, go try it out and let’s hear your thoughts.
