30-Days Juice Fast- Day 2

30-Days Juice Fast- Day 2

Have you been juicing today? I got up really early to get started. I like that my son had some before breakfast and then we were off to school and work!

It can be a bit daunting when you work, so a quick tip is to juice all recipes or stretch some so you do not have many containers of juices to carry around, take the mid-morning and afternoon Juices in a flask to work, while the evening juices are stored in the fridge. Then come home later in the evening to enjoy the evening Juices.

The key to getting this right is planning and preparing ahead of time. If you have your Juice handy when you need it, the temptation to eat something else would be less.

Another quick tip is- drink water. Stay hydrated. Sometimes we think we are hungry when we actually are thirsty. So the trick is to stay hydrated.

The final tip is – do not limit yourself to your own juices, there are several juicing bars dotted across the city, pop into one and order yourself something delicious!

You can do this! You have to believe it first and then take the steps to accomplish it!

I will be sharing some simple recipes today, made with 2-4 only ingredients. My goal is to make you understand the formula so you can make your own unique juices.
Remember, if you do not have some of the veggies or fruits in the recipes, simply use what you have. You can replace the sweet things like apples, beetroot, carrots, pineapple, papaya etc. with other sweet fruits or veggies you have available and do same with leafy greens, citruses etc.

With that out of the way, here are ‘Day 2’ recipes:

What you would need:
1.   Time – obviously
2.   A Juicer or/ a smoothie maker (a good blender if no smoothie maker)
3.   A chopping board (optional)
4.   Knives (optional)
5.   Water
6.   Apple cider vinegar (to wash fruits and vegetables. See: ‘30-Day Juice Fast: Day 1- Mind Prep!’ post sent on 28th of Feb. 2013 for veggie washer recipe.)

Fruits and Veggies needed for the day: 3 bananas, 3 apples, 2 cups of pineapple, 1 celery stick, 2-4 inches of lemon, 8 inches of cucumber, 2 handful of mixed green leaves, 7 carrots, 4 cups of red grapes, 3 oranges, a bag of peppermint tea (optional) and ½ a cup of strawberries.

Recipes:
7 am
Warm water with Lemon slices Or Have a mug of peppermint tea.
(Lemon encourages the body to detox, thus getting rid of radiation and other toxins.)

8am and 11am
AM call: Juice- 2 apples, 2 carrots, one inch slice of lemon with rind off and 1 inch fresh ginger(optional).
Juice the lot.

 2pm
PM call- 2 handful of green leaves, 2 cups of red grapes, 6 inches of cucumber and 1 inch slice of lemon without the rind.

Juice the lot.

3pm
PM spice- 1 apple, 5 carrots, and a thumb of ginger.
Juice the lot.

5pm
PM chill smoothie - 3 bananas, ½ cup of strawberries and 3 oranges.

Peel the oranges and juice them. If you have a citrus squeezer then you, obviously, do not have to peel the orange.

Toss everything into a blender and blend until smooth.
Enjoy!

7pm
Lullaby baby – 2 cups of pineapple, 2 cups of grapes, 1 celery stick, and 2 inches of cucumber.

Juice the lot.

Yahooooo!!! Another fun detox day! Keep believing in yourself and remember to tell us how your juicing day went.

Let's, breakdown what you would be getting from each ingredient with an extra focus on Lemon:

·         Lemon- Lemon helps to alkalize the body. People think it is very acidic because of its acidic taste and the fact that it contains some acidity, but it actually becomes more alkaline when consumed. It is also antibacterial, anti-viral, immune system booster, a great liver cleanser, a blood purifier and a really good body detoxer- if there is such a word. It helps the body get rid of radiation as well. You also get magnesium, potassium, phosphorous, calcium, vitamin C (the vitamin C helps your body absorb the calcium), bio-flavonoids, citric acid and beta-carotene.

Other benefits: Vitamins A, C, D, B6, E, K, beta-carotene, B1, B2, B6 and other vitamins in the B complex. There are also enriched with Chromium, phosphorous, potassium, Iron, folic acid, Zinc, iodine, sulphur, calcium and other minerals that together help calm the nervous system, restore the body’s alkaline balance, prevents cancer, cleanse the liver, dissolve excess mucus which hay fever and asthma sufferers need; cleanse the intestinal tract thus eliminating harmful toxins and neutralizing harmful bacteria; reduce hardening and blockage of arteries which in turn reduces the risks of strokes and heart disease;  promotes healthy eyes, skin and hair; reduce  blood pressure, fluid retention and acidity in the body which is good news for arthritis and gout sufferers.
