30-day Raw food fast:Day 1

30-day Raw food fast:Day 1

What is Raw food?

Raw food is unprocessed food. In other words, food that is eaten in its raw state. If you have ever eaten a banana, or an apple, or a salad made with fresh veggies and fruits, then you have eaten Raw food!

Doctors advise that you eat at least 5 vegetables and 5 fruits each day because they understand that food eaten in as close to its natural state as possible is best for the body.

This course is called a ‘Raw food fast’, but it really is not a fast but a break from a fast.

Did you get that? Let me explain - You actually fast when your main diet consists mostly of Processed food and very little of Raw food. This might come as a bit of a surprise to some because the general assumption when processed ‘food’ is eaten is that we are actually eating good food for our body. But that truly is not the case.

When you heat food (in a microwave oven, a gas or electric hub, a conventional oven or other processing method), you kill the enzymes, minerals, vitamins and other healthy compounds that make it food!

What remains is a meal that might hit the full spectrum of your taste buds but would fall short in nourishing your internal organs and as such fall short in keeping you healthy.

Your body needs nutrient-rich food to keep it working. It needs food that is alive and teeming with enzymes, minerals, and other active compounds.

When you heat your food in the microwave, on your burner, in your oven or any way else, you kill these nutrients and render the food dead.

If you keep eating dead food, you are essentially fasting because you are not feeding your body with living nutrients, minerals and other compounds it needs.

With that said, let’s get this party started!

  2. All the smoothies have been a surprise to me. I never thought I could make smoothies with leafy vegetables and mix things up like this. And they were quite filling too. Have not had my mango swirl, saving that for when the kids are in bed ;-).
